ENGLEWOOD — The Lemon Bay High School girls tennis team opened its season by beating Lakewood Ranch on Wednesday.

The Manta Rays won 5-2 in a match that coach Darrell Roach called a “nail-biter” in the end. After Jessica Lown, Maddie Casad and Andrea Vorlicek picked up straight-set singles victories, the doubles matches proved much closer.
