Cookie House marks Englewood history

More than 70 people turned out Tuesday to learn more about the Cookie House at Cedar Point Environmental Park, and its original home at the Bass Marine Laboratory. The house was opened to the public for the 11th Annual Lemon Bay Fest.

ENGLEWOOD — A standing-room-only crowd of 70-plus proved Tuesday at Cedar Point Environmental Park that local residents have a real hunger for the history of the Cookie House and the Bass Biological Lab.

They listened as Mote Marine Laboratory archivist Erin Mahaney and John Bass IV recounted the history of Bass Lab, once located on New Comfort Road. The talk was a program of the 11th Annual Lemon Bay Fest — History With Zest.
