NORTH PORT — Some say bringing expanded medical services for women and children along the Toledo Blade corridor is one the most realistic ideas from the North Port Economic Development Corporation’s recently unveiled plan.

The nonprofit corporation — with members including business owners, educators, architects, medical administrators, Realtors and bankers — worked for nearly a year to create five communitywide initiatives as economic catalysts for future development in the city. No one from local government is on the board.
