NORTH PORT — On Monday, the Sarasota/Manatee and Charlotte County/Punta Gorda Metropolitan Planning Organizations will discuss at a joint meeting in North Port the possibility of adding a future bus route that would link North Port, Englewood and Port Charlotte.

Since October, the staffs of the two organizations and research firm Renaissance Planning Group have been working on a study to determine the feasibility of the route that would add transit options in the South Sarasota County and Charlotte County areas. The study lays the groundwork for potential grants to develop service between the two counties, develop a range of possible service options and operating cost estimates, and explore possible funding sources available to the two counties.
