Charlotte County commissioners may have caused a setback last week for Calusa Green LLC when they denied a request by Calusa Growers to change a map designation in the county’s comprehensive plan, which restricts the landowner from using 554 acres of its own land for a regional landfill.

But the decision in no way stops the developer from moving forward with its initial plan, Calusa Green officials said.
