The state distributed a record number of applications for concealed weapon or firearm licenses last month following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and subsequent discussions of new gun-control legislation.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Licensing sent out 61,131 requested applications in December — a 61.04 percent increase from the 37,960 applications processed in November.
