PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives arrested two men on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after pointing a rifle from their passing car toward three adults and a baby, 2½, on a porch in the 3200 block of Easy Street. Arrested were Ian Douglas McGuire, 22, of the 3300 block of Westlund Terrace, and Wander Frias, 22, of the 2700 block of Starlite Lane. both of Port Charlotte. CCSO received the call Tuesday at 12:51 p.m., and the homeowner said they were sitting on the front porch when McGuire and Frias drove by several times in a green Neon yelling obscenities. The woman said Frias was driving. They returned, slowed down, and McGuire leaned forward and pointed the rifle at them.

One of the men on the porch told detectives there has been an ongoing feud that started a month ago. He said on Friday at 2:30 a.m. they heard a knock on the door. He answered, and no one was there. A few moments later, someone knocked again. This time, he said he saw McGuire and Frias on the sidewalk laughing. He further stated Frias came at him in an aggressive manner with something in his hand. He said he went back inside when he was hit with a beer bottle in his shoulder. He closed the door and heard another beer bottle hit the door causing it to crack. The victim also stated that a few weeks later there was an incident at Chubby’s Bar on Tamiami Trail. He said Frias and McGuire were bragging about the beer bottle incident and there was a physical altercation. Outside the bar, Frias went to his car and got a knife and baseball bat. Frias approached and hit the victim in the arm with the bat. Security took the bat and knocked the knife out of his hand. The victims were interviewed and they gave a possible address for McGuire and Frias, who live near their Easy Street home. Detectives went to McGuire’s home and located both men. They stated they did exchange words at the Easy Street home but denied pointing a firearm anyone. McGuire said he had no firearms and signed a waiver of search. Detectives, however, did locate a long barrel BB gun in the shed in the backyard that matched the description the victims had given deputies. After interviewing both men separately, they were arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail. McGuire remains in jail on $7,500 bond; Frias also remains in jail on a $5,000 bond.
