Fla. counting last presidential votes; Obama leads

MIAMI (AP) — Florida is counting its final presidential ballots and President Barack Obama holds a narrow lead.

Most of the remaining ballots are being tallied Thursday in Miami-Dade County. The state’s largest county had a last-minute wave of absentee ballots and the race is still too close to call.

Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are separated by less than a percentage point out of more than 8 million ballots cast.

If that becomes less than a half-percentage point, a computer recount would be held unless the losing candidate waives the recount.

If the president claims Florida’s 29 electoral votes, Obama would increase his victory margin in the Electoral College to 332-206.
