Heather Butcher was the first female runner in in this year's Firecracker 5K on June 30 in North Port, placing 10th overall with a time of 18:03.

Overall champion of the Englewood YMCA 2010 Triathlon is Heather Butcher, 38, of North Port, with a winning time of one hour, four minutes and one second.

Drivers in Charlotte and Sarasota counties will need to be alert Sunday morning. They will not be alone on the road.

An estimated 700 athletes are scheduled to participate in the REV3 Florida HalfRev Triathlon. The event’s route weaves through Venice, Englewood and North Port in Sarasota and Charlotte counties, and the bicycling segment includes State Road 776 and Tamiami Trail in Charlotte County.
