PORT CHARLOTTE ­­— Republicans like U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney will continue pushing the American middle class toward insolvency while concentrating economic power in the hands of global monopolies, a path that will ultimately lead to anarchy.

At least, that’s the gist of an argument that retired airline pilot Will Bronson, a Democrat from Lehigh Acres, plans to make Tuesday in a debate against Rooney. Bronson is challenging Rooney, who resides in Tequesta, Fla., for the District 17 congressional seat in the Nov. 6 election.
