SARASOTA COUNTY — Sarasota Memorial Hospital announced Tuesday it is among America’s top 100 hospitals for stroke care, according to new findings released in American Hospital Quality Outcomes 2013: HealthGrades Report to the Nation. It evaluates the performance of nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for almost 30 procedures and conditions.

SMH also received HealthGrades’ 5-star ratings in the treatment of stroke, heart attack, spine surgery and more than 12 other specialties. A 5-star quality measurement indicates SMH’s clinical performance is better than expected.
