PORT CHARLOTTE — Dozens of Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies searched the Parkside neighborhood Friday afternoon for a would-be thief who knocked an elderly woman to the ground outside the Cultural Center of Charlotte County in an attempt to steal her purse.
The woman reported the assault shortly after 1 p.m., according to sheriff’s officials. The suspect, last seen running west toward U.S. 41, remained at large Friday evening.
