NORTH PORT — A book of wooden matches was found near Carol Wisdom’s burned body inside her home on April 3 . Investigators say it was the 43-year-old mother who deliberately lit the house fire that killed her and her young son, Michael, 8.
North Port police announced Thursday that Carol poured gasoline “inside and on top” of her car that was backed into the garage. Firefighters later found her son’s badly burned body inside the vehicle. Investigators believe she removed the mattress from her son’s race car bed and put it against the outer side of the garage to block the window and door before setting the fire.
