NORTH PORT — A North Port City Commission candidate Q&A, sponsored by the North Port Area Republican Club, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Olde World Restaurant, 14415 Tamiami Trail. It will be moderated by Barbara Gross.

Gross said two candidates for the nonpartisan commission, Cheryl Cook for Seat 1 and Rhonda DiFranco for Seat 3, have told her they will not be attending; their opponents, incumbents David Garofalo (Seat 1) and Mike Treubert (Seat 3), said they will participate. Candidates for other offices who are attending will be available to speak and take questions. There will be social time at 5 p.m., a short business meeting at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and the question-and-answer time to follow. Dinner is $12 including tip; pay at the door. Dinner choices are pot roast with mashed potato and vegetable, ravioli with salad, chef salad or hamburger with fries. All are invited, but RSVPs are needed by Friday, Sept. 21. For more information or to RSVP, call Barbara Gross at 941-423-8314 or email gross.barbara144@gmail.com.
