Chief Glenn Prescott reminds people of the sacrifices made by firefighters and police in New York, Washington D.C. and Shanksville, Penn. on Sept. 11, 2001. As the ceremony began, the emergency bells sounded and several Fire Rescue personnel ran off to answer the call, symbolizing how our own local heroes are readdy to spring to action when called.

About a hundred people attended the annual ceremony Tuesday in front of the DeSoto County Courthouse to remember the innocent lives lost and those heroes who gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
