PORT CHARLOTTE — A lazy afternoon turned amok on Monday when a man had to be rescued from a sinking vehicle in Port Charlotte.
Normally the waterfront yard of Doug James, 60, is a serene place to be. A shaded bench seems like the perfect spot to spend a relaxing afternoon, taking in the smell of Florida foliage and listening to crickets chirp, but Monday it was filled with the worried cries of neighbors.
