FORT MYERS — A Port Charlotte man was in a federal courtroom Monday on three counts of tax evasion, in connection with alleged fraudulent tax returns filed between 2005 and 2007.

Peter Carl Hesser, 51, of the 1000 block of Corktree Circle, Port Charlotte, was indicted on Sept. 14, 2011, according to court documentation, after he allegedly attempted to defraud the Internal Revenue Service.
