SARASOTA COUNTY — The idea of a feral hog hunt in Deer Prairie Creek Preserve and the adjacent Schewe tract continues to polarize citizens of Sarasota County.

On one side are members of Sarasota in Defense of Animals and its supporters, who want county commissioners to reject two proposed three-day nighttime hunts. On the other side are hunters and staff of the Southwest Florida Water Management District, who say the two hunts proposed for Dec. 11-13, 2012, and March 19-21, 2013, are being conducted for population management purposes.
