PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 71-year-old woman’s granddaughter for stealing checks from her Port Charlotte home and cashing them. She was also charged with burglary to the grandmother’s neighbor’s home. Charged with 25 felony counts was Robin Danielle Suggs, 27, 1100 block of Hagle Park Road, Bradenton. She was located Monday in Sarasota County and arrested on multiple warrants that included nine counts of uttering forged checks, 12 counts of forgery, one count each for grand theft of a person over 65, burglary, dealing in stolen property, and giving false verification of ownership to a pawn broker. Suggs remains in the Charlotte County Jail on $62,500 bond.

CCSO was contacted by the grandmother on June 3, 2011, reporting checks were taken from her checkbook and cashed $2,077 worth of checks at her credit union. She suspected her granddaughter, Suggs, and her partner, Samantha Jean Olschewski, 24, 5500 block of 16th Street N. Bradenton, who both lived in her home at the time in the 2400 block of Starlite Lane when the thefts occurred between April 13 and May 10 last year. The grandmother told detectives they had stolen checks from her before. The other case involved a home burglary of the grandmother’s neighbor that occurred between May 7-28, 2011, involving theft of two air compressors, a spray gun, a helmet, and several other items. The neighbor went to a North Port pawn shop and located one of the compressors and the other at an El Jobean pawn shop. The detective’s investigation led to the arrest of Olschewski on Aug. 23, 2011, on nine forgery counts and one for grand theft. Olslchewski, a convicted felon, was released from the Charlotte County Jail on Feb. 16, 2012. Detectives finally located Suggs and the CCSO Warrant Squad served the warrants and brought her to the county jail.
