Officials urge residents to register for CodeRED calls

NORTH PORT — When a 6-year-old went missing in 2006, a CodeRED call was sent to residents from the North Port Police Department alerting residents a little girl vanished.

Sadly, Coralrose Fullwood’s body was discovered in the woods near her home hours after the call was made. However, because of the city’s call, many residents understood why helicopters were flying over their Chamberlain Boulevard neighborhood and officers were everywhere, searching in the woods and knocking on doors. And later, why news crews reported from their neighborhood for days while police searched for Coralrose’s killer, Patrick Murphy.
