NORTH PORT — Parks and Recreation Manager Pat Calhoon has mixed feelings about leaving North Port because he likes the progression of the city. However, his new job as sports development coordinator for Sarasota County will feed his passion for fostering sports tourism.

Calhoon, 56, of Sarasota, who was hired by former North Port city manager Terry Lewis a year ago, led the parks department through the opening of the new Morgan Family Community Center and Atwater Community Park.
