Spring kitten boom swamps area animal-rescue agencies

ENGLEWOOD — Given the agreeable outdoor temperatures, cats breed all year in Florida, but especially in the spring, and a local rescue is at wits’ end as to what to do with all the kittens from this spring’s kitten boom.

In the last 48 hours, Deva Ballantyne at EARS Animal Rescue Sanctuary has turned away 18 kittens, which she says breaks her heart.
