PUNTA GORDA — Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives again arrested Joshua Shane Crider, 31, of the 2700 block of Bailey Avenue, on grand theft charges for stealing items and selling them to a recycle business. Crider is a convicted felon and has been booked into the Charlotte County Jail 14 times.

On Saturday, CCSO received a call that someone removed a gate to his property in the 5400 block of Bronco Road, east of Punta Gorda, and entered a fenced yard, barn and a shed. Stolen were four large vehicle lead batteries, a grinder, a case of oil, a radiator, a smaller battery, and a roll of shop towels. Detectives located the five batteries and radiator at Trademark Metal Recycling, 5005 Dalewood St., in the Cleveland community. The owner of the stolen items positively identified the items that belonged to him. Documents at the recycle business showed Crider was paid $102.60 for the batteries and radiator. Crider was located Tuesday and arrested for grand theft, dealing in stolen property, false verification of ownership, criminal mischief (gate). He remains in the Charlotte County Jail on no bond. Crider was arrested last Thursday along with three other men for stealing large sheets of steel at a Jones Loop Road construction site used to prevent cave-ins. The 3,000 pounds of steel was also taken to Trademark Recycling. Crider and the other three were charged with grand theft and released on $2,500 bond.
