CCSO: Father, son discovered shot to death in home

Two men were found dead Friday evening in this home on the 1100 block of Inverness Street in Port Charlotte, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report. The CCSO is calling this a domestic incident, and states both men had gunshot wounds.

PORT CHARLOTTE — Two men were found shot to death Friday evening in a home at 1145 Inverness St., according to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s report. Deputies responded to the home at 6:23 p.m. regarding a death investigation. There, they discovered the two men, later identified as Robert Allen Correia Sr., 54, listed by the Charlotte County Property Appraiser as the home’s owner; and his son, Robert Allen Correia Jr., 31.

According to the report, detectives believe this is a domestic incident, and “there is no immediate concern for the safety of the community.” Both bodies were taken from the home Saturday morning, and the Charlotte County Medical Examiner will perform autopsies as part of the investigation, the report shows.
