The 2012 Charlotte County essay winners for the Florida Retired Educators Association’s fifth-grade grandparent essay contest are Sincear Viera, first place; Nicolas Webb, second place; Vance Herbener, third place; and Samantha Hottle, honorable mention.

The first-place essay went on to the district-level contest to be judged, from which the winning district essay was sent to the state-level contest. A final winner was scheduled to be announced during the organization’s state assembly in Orlando at the end of May.
