Huskys football league faces hurdles to find a home field

The North Port Huskys league is gearing up for the fall season. Practice begins on July 1.
NORTH PORT — Every few days, city and county officials, news outlets and even Gov. Rick Scott receive emails from Mike Cody, coach and past president of the Huskys Football and Cheer League, begging for permanent fields for the youth organization.
Although Cody’s emails are lengthy, sometimes rambling or written in all capitals, he said he’s trying to get action.
