New charges in Osprey hotel shooting
Michael Rice
SARASOTA COUNTY — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office filed additional charges this week against the man who allegedly shot and killed a Bentley’s Hotel tiki bar patron at point-blank range on May 26.
According to witnesses, Michael Rice, 23, a dump-truck driver from Seneca, S.C., who was staying at the Osprey hotel, shot 46-year-old Phil Nahon in the head that Saturday afternoon after an exchange of words. Deputies are keeping what was said under wraps, but according to one witness the shooting happened in response to an off-color remark by Rice.
