Garnett Scholl, one of the recipients of the 2012 Joanie Award, shared a few humorous stories as she thanked the committee and those attending the awards ceremony. In honor of the late Joanie Reinhard, who spent more than 40 years in Charlotte County volunteering for many causes and organizations, including the Cultural Center of Charlotte County, the inaugural Joanie Award Spirit of Volunteerism ceremony took place in the theater at the Cultural Center, which sponsored the event Friday, which is Reinhard’s birthday. The award that is named in her honor was created to honor other volunteers in Charlotte County.

Proud mother Renee Galloway had nominated her 15-year-old son, Chance, for the Joanie Award Spirit of Volunteerism, because of all the volunteer jobs the teen undertakes at school and in his Englewood community.
