For one special night, members of Port Charlotte’s Sons of Italy Lodge 2507 were stars as they stepped back in time to perform impersonations of popular singers and a TV personality. The theme combined the long-running shows American Bandstand and The Ed Sullivan Show.
The old, familiar tune “You Don’t Have to be a Star” opened the “Italian Bandstand” show to a large audience June 15. The song was performed by two husband-and-wife duos, Ron and Barb Castrovinci and Don and Jo Mastrogiovanni. The couples have been friends for more 40 years and have performed together at various events.
