PORT CHARLOTTE — A 65-year-old veteran who served his country but was not in combat may have a pension waiting for him and not know it.
A widow of a veteran who died eight years ago missed out on a $1,400-per-month pension for which she didn’t know she qualified. Instead, she struggles to get by on a meager Social Security check.
