PUNTA GORDA — When Gov. Rick Scott asked local politicians for ideas to boost Florida’s economy during a recent visit here, Charlotte County Airport Authority chairwoman Kathleen Coppola raised her hand.

She told the governor of a cutting-edge airplane parts testing company at the Punta Gorda Airport that is going to need financial assistance for a major plant expansion.
