Anthony Hargrove told North Port Noon Kiwanis members how he grew up in Port Charlotte, played Pop Warner football, became a high school quarterback and followed his dream to play for the NFL as the guest speaker at the club's Wednesday meeting. Hargrove has a Super Bowl ring from his 2009 win as a defensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints.
NORTH PORT — Fondly remembering the six hits he made on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, Anthony Hargrove told Kiwanians he was given the coveted football used in the 31-28 overtime win at the NFC Championship game, which landed the New Orleans Saints a spot in the 2009 Super Bowl.
Hargrove, 28, who started six of 13 winning games as a defensive tackle for the Saints that year, said he doesn’t wear his Super Bowl XLIV ring on a regular basis.
