Sarasota School Board faces more budget cuts
SARASOTA COUNTY — The Sarasota
County School Board learned at its Tuesday workshop that it could face shortfalls of between
$3.6 million and
$5.1 million in its 2012-2013 operating budget.
In a report by Deputy CFO Al Weidner, allocated resources put forth by Gov. Rick Scott’s office, the Florida House,
and the Florida Senate were all examined and all fell short of what the school district’s total estimated appropriations would require to meet its current operating expenses, while holding a 7.5 percent unassigned fund balance cushion it has pledged to maintain in its operating budget.
