Warren Joseph DiPerna, 57, of North Port, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at his Sarasota county residence.
He was born March 9, 1956, in Jersey City, N.J.
Warren served in the U.S. Air force for 23 years. He retired in 1998, as a CMSGT; the highest-ranking sergeant in the Air Force. They called him “Chief.” His great love was baseball and the New York Mets.
He was survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Mary L. DiPerna of North Port; his mother, Florence DiPerna of N.J.; one son, Joseph DiPerna of Sunberry, Pa.; a stepson, Kristopher Sampson of Charlestown, W.Va.; step daughter, Pamela Sampson of Rockville, Md.; one brother, David DiPerna of Vt.; and six grandchildren.
A prayer service will be said at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the Englewood Community Funeral Home with Private Crematory, 3070 South McCall Road. Military honors and inurnment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to National Institute of Health (NIH), Cancer Research, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892, in memory of Warren DiPerna.
