Elaine Arontik, 73, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Manhattan, N.Y., and lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to North Port, Fla., in 2003.
Elaine leaves behind three children; four grandchildren; and countless friends, who cherished her as a compassionate, funny, honest, genuine and loving soul that was full of life and never ceased to bring laughter and love into our lives.
Elaine often volunteered for the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Port VFW and AMVETS 312, where she loved to meet her friends on the dart club! She also leaves behind her baby, a long-haired Chihuahua, Shayna, who brought her much happiness during her illness. Her laugh, which was highly contagious, will never be forgotten!
Memorial Ceremonies will be planned in North Port and New York as soon as the family is able. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2970 University Parkway, Suite 104, Sarasota, FL 34243; or any Humane Society.
