Charles S. Dietz

Charles S. Dietz, 86, of North Port, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the Port Charlotte Hospice House.

The son of Charles H. and Mary A. (nee Wacker) Dietz, he was born in Baltimore, Md., Oct. 18, 1926.

Charles served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. For many years, he worked as a heavy-equipment operator for the State of Maryland.

He leaves his loving wife, Betty Z. (nee Palmer) Dietz of North Port; daughter, Betty Lee Louke; son, Charles Lee Dietz, both of North Port; three sisters, Joan Miller, Joyce Rosier and Jeanne Krell; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, William Lee Dietz, April 23, 2005.

Friends are invited to be with the family from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1935 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, Fla. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, Fla.

Arrangements are by Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral and Cremation Services.
