William Michael Cuthbert

William (Bill) Michael Cuthbert, 58, of North Port, Fla., passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.

He was born April 26, 1954, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to Edward and Violet Cuthbert.

Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port. He was a CAN at the Doug Jacobson Veterans Home before retiring and volunteered at various hospitals. William was a U.S. Navy veteran and served on the aircraft carrier, USS Independence. He was a member of the North Port Knights of Columbus, AMVETS Post 312, and the Holy Name Society.

Bill is survived by his parents, Edward and Violet Cuthbert of North Port; brother, Bruce (Lois) Cuthbert of Swansboro, N.C; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at McKee Funeral Home, 14538 Tamiami Trail, North Port. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7890 W. Price Blvd., North Port.
