Evelyn Monday, 83, of North Port, Fla., and formerly of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Ill.

She was born June 19, 1929, in Chicago, Ill.

Evelyn was a graduate of Kalvin Park High School in Chicago, Ill., and was united in marriage to David William Monday in Chicago. She moved to Florida 21 years ago from Wauconda, Ill. She worked as the secretary to the Superintendent for Fremont Center School, and later worked as the secretary at Messiah Lutheran Church in Wauconda. Evelyn and her husband David led Eskin Tours around the world. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Punta Gorda. Evelyn was an active member of Lifelong Learners. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, traveling, playing pinochle, and especially loved her grandchildren. Evelyn really valued her friendships.

She is survived by three daughters, Cathy (Ralph) Ferguson, Sharon (Jack Paxton) Monday and Kim (Tom Tucker) Royster; and grandchildren, David and Matt Ferguson, Reinal and Maria Dorsey, and Taylor Tucker. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Monday; and parents, Martin and Anna Kasch.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., with funeral services at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church in Punta Gorda. The Rev. Allen Dana Narring will officiate. Interment and the committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
