NORTH PORT — While some were upset city commissioners didn’t advertise on the agenda the intent to sell the Warm Mineral Springs Day Spa, one area resident is concerned Sarasota County commissioners also didn’t alert the public about a proposal to purchase the city’s portion of the 81-acre property at a recent meeting.

In an email to city commissioners, area resident Juliette Jones wrote she has “rarely” seen such a display of “bloated arrogance and pernicious distortion,” until she attended the meeting where County Commissioner Christine Robinson read a proposal Jan. 29 to buy the city’s portion for $2 million. The city and county jointly bought the Springs for $5.5 million in 2010. City commissioners gave the county first dibs on buying the property.
