NORTH PORT — North Port City Commissioner Tom Jones and his family have provided an update on the commissioner’s health. On Jan. 7, Jones, 59, suffered a stroke and has been at Sarasota Memorial Hospital since that time undergoing testing, evaluation and treatment.

Jones underwent successful surgery and is recovering and receiving rehabilitation, his family says. At this point, the prognosis is that Jones will remain in the hospital for the next three weeks while he continues to rehabilitate.
