Volunteer Linda Christian assigns amateur REV3 competitor Trevor Stultz an official athlete wristband and credentials during check-in at October's half-Ironman triathlon. Though the event fell short of revenue estimates, a study shows it still put about $600,000 into the local economy.
When REV3 Triathlon and Sarasota County officials announced last summer that the inaugural REV3 Florida HalfRev Triathlon was coming to South County, they estimated it could have an economic impact on the area of as much as $1 million.
It came up about $400,000 short.
