Eight busted in drug sweep
NORTH PORT — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and the North Port Police Department arrested eight people Wednesday night in a joint operation that focused on narcotics-related offenders in North Port and Warm Mineral Springs.
Of the men and women arrested, five had outstanding warrants for drug-related crimes. Those arrested were: William Justice, 47, 6900 block of Ketona Road, North Port — two counts of sale of a controlled substance (cocaine); Ricky Jackson, 36, 5700 block of Gallatin Lane, North Port — two counts of sale of a controlled substance (cocaine); Robert Jones, 58, 1500 block of Rada Lane, North Port — sale of a controlled substance (oxycodone); Janine McFarland, 36, 3200 block of Mount Hope St., North Port — sale of a controlled substance (cocaine); Carolyn Kalanta, 47, 6300 block of Mataro Court, North Port — sale of a controlled substance (oxycodone); Joseph Golden, 38, 400 block of Barger St., Port Charlotte — possession of a controlled substance without a prescription; Douglas Corliss, 41, Port Charlotte (no permanent address) — possession of marijuana; and India Pertee, 26, 4500 block of Mulgrave Ave., North Port — contempt warrants for possession of cocaine and breach of peace. It was the 33rd arrest for Ricky Jackson, the 19th arrest for India Pertee and the 12th arrest for Carolyn Kalanta for crimes in Sarasota County, the SCSO reported.
