Manasota Key seaweed cleanups not happening — for now

Sarasota County's Blind Pass public beach sees seaweed scattered along the shoreline. The county started cleaning Lido and Siesta Key public beaches Monday, but had no immediate plans Monday to clean its public beaches south of Siesta Key.

For more than a week, onshore winds have been blowing seaweed onto area beaches.

Sarasota County announced Friday it intended to clean public portions of Lido and Siesta Key beaches Monday and Tuesday.
