The third annual Warbird Weekend will be taking flight Saturday-Sunday at the Punta Gorda Airport in Punta Gorda. The event, which is put on by the Experimental Aircraft Association Warbirds Squadron 24, is a fundraiser primarily for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Veteran’s Airlift Command. In past two years the event has raised more than $18,000.

“It’s all about trying to honor and recognize the sacrifices veterans have made for our freedom,” Florida Warbirds President Jim “Zack” Olzacki said. He said it was about “doing great things for the people who have served us.”
