PUNTA GORDA — Charlotte High School’s boys soccer team hung tough with visiting Sarasota for one half Monday night, but in the end the Sailors headed home with a 5-0 victory.

The Tarpons trailed 1-0 at halftime after the Sailors’ Ian Grubb took a short pass from Michael Mayer and punched the ball in from about five yards out midway through the half. The teams battled evenly in a slight rainfall for the rest of the half.
