Mustangs withstand
Pirates’ push
PORT CHARLOTTE — Port Charlotte High School’s boys soccer team staged a strong rush in the second half, but fell short to visiting Lakewood Ranch 2-1 Monday night.
The Pirates trailed 2-0 in the second half when sophomore forward Jared Chase took a cross pass from D.J. Botts and found the net with about 20 minutes left. Port Charlotte (3-5, 3-2 District 4A-11) kept the pressure on, but couldn’t score the equalizer against the Mustangs (8-3, 5-1).
