Eugene Thomas Delaney, 85, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012.

He was born April 10, 1927, in Chicago, Ill.

Gene was an avid supporter and cheerleader for his grandchildren Suzanne, Kyle, Erin, Maura, Brian, Daniel, Conor, Caitlin, Emily, and Andrew. A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he served in France and Germany.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 12 siblings and son-in-law Jerry. Devoted husband of 60 years to Anne, he also was a loving father to Theresa Chesney, Joseph (Mary Lou) Delaney, Carolyn (Timothy) Walsh, and Yvonne (Jeffrey) Cernick.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi, 5265 Placida of Englewood.
