It was 1970, and the Cultural Center was on its third expansion in two years.
The success of having one place for cultural activities was just what many northerners looked for when they moved to the Sunshine State, which made Charlotte County one of the fastest growing communities in Florida. Supporters of the center were always looking for new, creative activities that would get everyone out of their homes and to the Cultural Center. The fact that these activities could also help raise money for the newly built Cultural Center was a bonus.
