Drug raid nets five arrests
PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit detectives raided a methamphetamine drug house in the Port Charlotte Parkside area Wednesday, arrested five people and seized methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and two stolen handguns. Arrested were James Earl Lewis, 48; Eddie Joe Ramirez, 34; Rosa Marie DeLeon, 31; and Rosa Lee Watkins, 35, all of the 200 block of Taylor Lane; and Helen Jones Dillard, 52, of the 24300 block of Airport Road, Punta Gorda. Following an intensive investigation, narcotics detectives had the home under surveillance on Taylor Lane, Port Charlotte, and obtained a search warrant. Wednesday morning, they observed numerous vehicles coming and going between the hours of 3:45 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. Detectives and members of the Street Crimes Unit executed the warrant and the five were arrested after a search of the home and garage. Seized were four plastic baggies of methamphetamine, a digital scale, six glass pipes, and two baggies of marijuana.
Lewis was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in jail on no bond. Ramierez, DeLeon, Dillard and Watkins were all charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ramirez remains in jail on $3,500 bond. DeLeon, Watkins and Dillard all posted $3,500 bond and were released.
