Educators tackle pros, cons of mobile devices

SOUTH VENICE — A workshop at the recent education summit at State College of Florida’s local campus featured “Bring Your Own Device” trends in area schools, how mobile devices affect students’ study habits for good and ill, and practical methods teachers can employ to properly govern their use in the classroom.
Todd Alexander, instructional technology manager for the Sarasota County School District, joined Joe Binswanger, interim director of instructional technology for the district, for a lecture to about 25 teachers on the evolution of mobile devices and how educators might leverage their computing power.
